The home is located on Follen Hill's Mount Independence, one of the highest points in Lexington, an Italianate villa modeled by famed artist Hermann Dudley Murphy. The 1.75 acre gardens are exceptional, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. This home is truly a work of art. The eat-in kitchen dining room leads to an extensive living area with stenciled cypress paneling, a drawing room, media room and sun room. There are six bedrooms over two floors and seven bathrooms. The lower level is finished and a second kitchen and living space make it ideal for use as an au-pair suite. The piece de resistance is the indoor swimming pool with lounging area overlooking The Great Lawn and steps leading to the foundation stones of a historic observation tower. The in-door pool has an endless current technology (Badu) which allows swimming against a current. The home and grounds are perfect for family gatherings, grand entertainment and garden parties!
